Nepal 1998
AYUDAMOS provided approximately $250,000 worth of medical supplies and
English Medical Texts to the 2 major teaching hospitals of Kathmandu, Patan and
Tribhuvan. The first Telemedicine Symposium in Nepal was held at Tribhuvan
Teaching Hospital over 5 days. Applications for countries with
geographical barriers to health care delivery provided the focus of this
project. Likewise, laparoscopic surgery instructions were provided to the
surgeons of Kathmandu. Of note was the fact that the first 2 mm diagnostic
laparoscopy using local anesthesia was performed in Asia by the AYUDAMOS
surgical team while in Nepal.
